Art Vending in the City!

I sold my art at a festival! On a gorgeous sunny August weekend in Downtown Minneapolis, my team and I packed up my goods, brought them to the center of downtown Minneapolis, and put them on display. The Jessica Lied Art booth took its spot, along with about 100 other venders, for the Jackalope Indie Artisan Market. The two day event took place along Nicollet Mall from 6th to 10th streets. Along with the really impressive makers market, the overarching event: the Downtown Minneapolis Street Art Festival, featured lots of live art making, live music, and food trucks.

I saw so much art! My partner Thaddeus and I took a moment and strolled the festival taking in the sights. So much to see: paintings, pottery, textiles, furniture, fashion, toys, soaps and lotions and potions of every kind, bakery, jewelry and more; we didn’t have time to look at everything. Also, lots of Dogs! and so many wonderful people! We were lucky enough to be across the street from some particularly good live music on Sunday afternoon. We also saw an amazing Samurai Squirrel chalk mural, and watched some “Art Battle” competitive painting unfold.

The set-up was a lot of work, and the event involved quite a few little logistical hurdles, but we stayed positive and everything went off with out a hitch. I definitely could not have done it by my self, but i’m glad, because it was a lot of fun to have everybody there!

We sold art, experienced art, pet cute dogs (and one cat on a leash), and met so many nice and interesting people. But the very best part for me is always the people. Putting my art out there and getting such a positive response really makes any amount of work worth it for me!
