New Prints!

It’s April here in Minneapolis which means… snow? But also.. daffodils, crocus, and tulips just around the corner, both on the calendar and in so many of my neighbors yards here in the Northeast.

I myself have been busy the last month, preparing for, not just the upcoming gardening season, but the upcoming art market season! I ordered a bunch of fun new prints featuring my paintings and I can barely wait to show them to everybody!

I ordered a lot of new ‘Square Art-Card Prints’ in fun new designs. I continue to love this small square format and the results from the printer I work with: Moo. This manufacturer is the same printer I use for my business cards, and my greeting cards, and it’s not because they are cheap, but rather because the results are so nice. The colors are bright and true which is a huge consideration for me as I am very passionate about the colors I choose. Also the paper is thick and the satiny surface finish is really nice. I am able to get an affordable style of print that isn’t a compromise, but a style choice. I like that they are all the same size and format, so they can be easily collected and displayed together in fun combinations. Expect future posts showcasing these new artworks, and the process I used to create the paintings and the prints.

Here is a photo of my partner Thaddeus showcasing one of my Square Art-Card Prints:

I also ordered “fancy” fine art prints of many of my new paintings from the last couple of years. I will now be offering archival, collectible “giclee” style prints in the 8”x10” size in addition to the 5”x7” prints I had been previously stocking. These luxurious prints continue to amaze me! Utilizing high pixel count scans, archival paper and pigmented inks, these prints really are nearly indistinguishable from the originals! It took quite a bit of research and trail and error, but I have a process and a result that I just love, and I’m really excited to continue to expand this area of my art practice!

Ya’ll remember SQUASHTOBER!? That was a heck of a lot of fun! Painting and sharing the results everyday for a month was not easy, but I loved that project. For those who might not be aware, this past fall of 2023 I completed a painting of a different squash for every day of the month of October! I promised a poster featuring the results, and it’s here! The proofs are in, and they look amazing! I had them printed as 11”x14” fancy archival prints that I think, though not necessary, are worthy of the mat and frame treatment. I love that these prints are actually the end result of a huge project, rather than a side effect. This print is the ultimate form for this creative output, and I am so pleased with it! I will do an entire post of its own breaking down the process I used to make them, as this post is already getting quite long.

I’ve also got a bunch of fun news from the sticker printing department, new business cards, and I’m working on some really fun new signage for my tent and table displays!

I have so many other exciting art related things going on, in the painting studio and on the web, but I better narrow the scope of this “report", or it will be far too long. Rest assured I will have oodles more fun things to share in many future posts just around the corner!
